1. Insert CD into CD-ROM drive. Close tray. If it doesn't start within a few seconds... (see 2) 2. Right click on desktop (PC screen), a menu opens. 3. Select "Properties." A window opens. 4. Select "Screen Saver" tab at the top. Screen saver options open. 5. Press arrow at right end of 'screen saver name' slot. A drop-down list of screen saver names opens. Find "My Pictures Screen Saver" and select it (click on it). The drop down menu closes. If you find no such name on the list (not all systems have this feature), look for something that sounds similar and continue the steps from there (and hope it will work!). 6. Press the button marked "Settings." Setting options open. 7. Click and drag tabs for length of display & picture size. 8. Press "Browse" button; a window opens showing drives and files within your computer. 9. Select (click on) your CD-ROM drive (Compact Disc - usually labeled Drive D:\ or E:\) 10. Check any of the other options offered below the "browse" area that you think you might enjoy ... like "stretch small pictures." 11. Press "OK" to exit Settings, and you are...(see 12) 12. Back to the Screen Saver tab. Click on "Preview" and wait a few seconds for the show to begin (the screen may turn black ... don't panic ... a move of the mouse at any time will discontinue the preview and return to the Screen Saver window). 13. If satisfactory to view.. click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the program & save set up. This is now your screen saver; however you MUST have the CD in the drive for it to work (unless you transfer the photos to a folder on your hard drive and select that folder during "browse"). After viewing the photos, you can change back to your favorite screen saver with a few clicks of the mouse (right click on desktop / Properties / Screen Saver / select screen saver name & other options / Apply / OK / Done!) IF the above doesn't work for you and all else fails, you can: insert the CD, open "My Computer" (double click desktop icon), and open your CD drive (double click on it). You'll see a window filled with the contents of the CD little icons and names that end in ".jpg." Those are the photos. Double click on one of the them ... if it doesn't open but rather asks what program to use to open it, select your browser (Internet Explorer or?) or "Image Preview" or some such program. The book files on the CD, which end in ".doc," should open for you in MSWord or WordPad (if your graphics converter is working). If they won't, then your computer (like mine) might not have a program compatible to opening the book files. TRIVIA: there are 424 photos on the CD (not including those within the book). IF you set the viewing time to 15 seconds each (for example), the total time to view all photos will be 1 hour and 46 minutes! I hope this page was helpful to you. Helen PAGE TOP |
