Hot coffee, bakery sweets, deli ham and fresh strawberries with a special fruit dip awaited the 83 folks who showed up to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of our high-school graduation. The overcast and cool morning at Bay View State Park quickly gave way to a day of warm sunshine with cooling breezes off Padilla Bay. Purple and gold balloons, streams of crepe paper, and a EHS’58 Reunion banner made by Fran (Thorn) Banasick decorated the beach shelter while, inside and out, name-tagged classmates and spouses mingled in the chatter and laughter of reuniting with old friends. Hugs were abundant and exchanged often throughout the day.
Ryn (Kathy Diemert) Streuli was our "official greeter," making sure everyone got welcomed, parked, and knew where to get a name tag. Duane Gillis provided mug shots from our 1958 Echo. They were added to the tags and proved helpful in identification, indeed!
Before noon, Mike Jungers had the barbecues hot and was cooking pork ribs for everyone, with the able help of John Wagner and Chuck Randall. It took three tables to hold all the food — hot ribs, baked beans, sumptuous salads, fresh fruit plates, chips, dips, iced tea, soft drinks and a variety of decadent desserts (like Gerry Schifferl Medley's chocolate cake, to name just one)!

The afternoon was filled with eating, visiting and cameras clicking. Folks and food dishes began disappearing around three in the afternoon. The hearty handful who remained to the five o'clock hour were delightfully entertained with guitar and vocals from Bruce Grimstad. What a treat!
The grounds and shelter were left mostly as clean as we found them, and at 6:40 PM the last balloon was picked from the entrance area as the hosts departed for home. The reunion was over. §
